My last post was about the importance of transition assessments, which hopefully your read. Don't worry. I won't shame you if you didn't. However, moving forward, it is essential to know that other assessments, such as academic and progress monitoring assessments, like easyCBM, are also needed for students. Since this blog is about transition, you might wonder why I am talking about academic assessments. Academic assessments are essential because we need to know if a student's academic level matches what is required for the student's postsecondary plan. For example, what reading level is necessary to work at a grocery store compared to attending a community college or working in a fast food restaurant? This goes with other academic subjects, such as math, science, history, drafting, cosmetology, food and nutrition, and on and on. Hence the need for educational assessments.
Now that we have our transition and academic assessments, we can move forward to our next piece. Deciding what the student can do, reviewing the requirements for the student's post-high school goals, determining what is needed to reach the student's plan, and exploring who and what is required to provide assistance.
Here are a couple of links. I am not connected with these links in any way besides using them. i.e., I do not make any money from them and am only referring them, so they are available.
Thank you for reading. I look forward to reading your comments. Please let others know about this blog.
