Hello,
Due to personal reasons, it has been a while since I have made any blog posts. I am glad to be back and want to discuss an important aspect of transition today. Many people may not have heard of predictors or, if they have, are not aware of the purpose. Predictors are specific actions and activities that can assist someone with a disability in having positive outcomes after high school, postsecondary school, employment, and independent living. My main interest is self-determination, although many other predictors, such as inclusion, have been shown to increase positive outcomes. There are too many to list in this blog entry and too many to list now, so I am linking to the National Technical Assistance on Transition: The Collaborative (NTACT:C). You must create an account to log in, but don't worry; it does not cost anything. Once you have logged into the site, type "predictors" without the quotation marks in the search bar and go to predictors for postschool success. There are 23 predictors listed. If you click on them, they will show you the programs that have had robust research completed and are in use. I suggest spending some time going over them. Many well-known names in the transition field are responsible for assisting with creating this list. I know this is a relatively vague post, but please look at the amount of information on transition NTACT:C offers. Also, please leave me comments. Let me know what you think or if you have any questions about transition or the predictors. You may have to create a Wix account, but they are free, and I would love to hear your feedback.
